Storage technologies and consent
Cookie Policy
Cookies and similar technologies can keep the website secure, remember choices, measure use, and support advertising. Their use depends on purpose, configuration, consent, and applicable law.
What these technologies are
A cookie is a small text file stored by a browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags, scripts, software development tools, and identifiers used to recognize a browser or record an action. Some are set by Stargazing Finder’s own domain. Others are set by service providers.
Categories used or available on the site
| Category | Purpose | Consent position |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Security, network delivery, load balancing, fraud prevention, page operation, and storage of privacy choices | May operate without optional consent when legally exempt |
| Preferences | Remembering interface, language, display, or other user-selected settings | Enabled according to the consent rules that apply |
| Analytics and performance | Understanding aggregate traffic, errors, speed, navigation paths, and feature use | Activated only when permitted and, where required, after consent |
| Advertising and measurement | Displaying ads, limiting frequency, measuring delivery, preventing abuse, and supporting personalized or non-personalized advertising | Controlled by consent and regional requirements |
Possible cookie names
Names and durations can change when providers or configurations change. Common examples may include consent-status cookies, security cookies, WordPress session or preference cookies, analytics identifiers such as _ga, and advertising identifiers used by participating ad providers. The consent interface and browser storage panel provide the most current device-level view.
Consent choices
Where consent is required, the consent interface allows non-essential categories to be accepted, rejected, or managed. A choice can be changed later through the privacy or cookie settings control available on the website. Rejecting optional categories should not block access to ordinary published content, although some embedded or personalized functions may remain unavailable.
Third-party services
Analytics, advertising, embedded maps, media, security, and content delivery providers may set or read technologies under their own terms. Their retention periods and processing purposes can differ. When a third-party service requires consent, it should remain restricted until the relevant choice permits it.
Browser controls
Most browsers can block, delete, or limit cookies. Blocking all storage may affect consent memory, security checks, embedded content, and site preferences. Browser settings do not always prevent server logs or every form of device recognition.
Do Not Track and similar signals
Browser privacy signals are handled where required by applicable law and supported by the site’s technology. Because standards and legal effects differ, a universal response cannot be guaranteed for every browser signal.
Changes
This policy may be updated when providers, purposes, retention periods, consent tools, or legal requirements change. The effective date identifies the current version.
