Austria’s September–October Cloud Divide
Attersee and Eisenwurzen
Gahberg, Hochbärneck and Johnsbach can remain under northwesterly cloud while inner Tyrol clears. Attersee adds local moisture; Gesäuse walls can hide incoming cloud.
Kaunertal and Silvretta
Gepatsch and Bielerhöhe gain inner-alpine shelter, but pass wind, lenticular cloud and rapid local changes remain practical limits.
Weinviertel and Carinthia
Großmugl can collect autumn mist. Eisentalhöhe and Rosstratte may sit above basin haze while that haze spreads Vienna, Villach or Klagenfurt light along the horizon.

The Galtür approach reopened to Bielerhöhe, while the full cross-pass route remained disrupted by the Vorarlberg safety project. Confirm the same-side return route.
Dobratsch Overnight Closure
From September through May, the Villach Alpine Road prohibits access beyond the toll station from 21:30 to 05:00, covering most full darkness.
Nockalm Vehicle Rules
The seasonal road publishes a motorcycle ban from 18:00 to 08:00. Car barriers, weather and closure status still require a current check.

Vienna versus the Weinviertel
